Initial Consultation
Initial Consultations are longer appointments that allow me the time to ask all necessary questions, and really take the time to listen to your concerns. I will also perform a hands-on physical assessment, and review any recent Laboratory results that you are able to provide so that I am able to understand the complete health picture. These consultations are typically 75 minutes, however for more complex problems, chronic conditions, or conditions managed with multiple medications, a 90 minute appointment may be recommended.
-
Follow Up Consultation (15-45 min)
The first follow up consultation is typically when comprehensive treatment plans are provided and alternatives are presented. This will allow us to discuss what is the correct course of action for you. Additional follow up consultations are for managing or trouble shooting current treatment plans and performing therapeutics outlined in our initial treatment plan.

Herbal Medicine
Nature is the master of chemical design and as such had created phytochemicals that effect our physiology. Many pharmaceuticals were first discovered in plants and then chemically modified in to their pharmaceutical forms. In herbal medicine we use the whole of the plant to heal us rather than individual compounds because just as we are greater than the sum of our parts so are the plants. The entire spectrum of a plants phytochemicals work in synergy to provide safe and effective treatments.

Lifestyle and Dietary Counselling
The core foundations for long lasting change are based on changing our everyday lifestyle to those that promote healing. These often include movement-based activities, breathing, sleep aid, stress management, and mental and emotional support. Additionally, our diets have one of the greatest influences from the outside world to our cells. This is why it is so important to consume quality foods. Food is the oldest form of medicine which is why diet and lifestyle counselling are the foundation to successful treatment.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture can be used as a minimally invasive treatment to remove trigger points and to reset physiological processes to allow for a normal healing response. It is an ancient form of medicine that continues to provide benefit for a myriad of conditions.

Diagnostic Testing
As a licenced Naturopathic Physician in B.C. I can order laboratory tests through Life Labs. These help me to diagnose and manage your health concerns. I am also able to access a number of other lab testing through private companies which can provide me with more detailed insight into your health. I have listed some of these below.
Below is a list of some of the specialized test offered by Dr. Orser
food sensitivity test (FST)
A FST is a blood test that looks for specific foods that are reacting with your bodies immune system on an individual basis. These food sensitivities can show up as a multitude of symptoms ranging from irregular gas or bloating, diarrhea or constipation, headaches, joint pain, fatigue, and inability to lose weight to name a few. These food sensitivities can also be a barrier to healing when you are dealing chronic illnesses like eczema, asthma, allergies, and arthritis.
Genetic testing
This type of testing looks for genetic variations within your genome to allow you to better understand your body’s genetic code. It will evaluate genes from a variety of categories including nutritional needs, cardiovascular system, detoxification pathways, hormonal pathways, mental health, and physical fitness. This test is designed to provide you with a specific and individualized owner’s manual for your body.
Gastrointestinal Testing
This is a group of tests that help to determine pathological and functional causes of gastrointestinal disease. This list includes small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) testing, stool microbiome, parasitology analysis, and functional stool assessments that help to determine relevant treatment and root causes to improve your gut health. A healthy gut is intimately related to overall health and is often the focus when treating the root cause of disease.
Cardiovascular Metabolite testing
The PULS test (Protein Unstable Lesion Signature) is a blood test that is offered to look for metabolites of unstable vascular lesions within the heart to identify the 5-year risk of a cardiac event. Additionally, it can provide me with an estimation of how much burden your heart is under compared to a person of similar age and gender. This is a valuable cardiac screening test for both men and women to assess cardiovascular risk and heart health.
